Diversity Stories

How have you been personally affected by an encounter with one or more people whose ethnicity, race, or other human feature is different from your own? What were your expectations? What happened? How did the experience affect you? Did you learn anything? Were your expectations reinforced? Do you have specific suggestions for how your school could improve these types of interactions? We are looking for genuine stories, told by people like you, to share with others on this site.

We ask that you discuss your submission first with someone on the faculty at your school. When you are ready to submit it to us, please include your name and email address and the name and email address of the faculty member with whom you discussed your experience. Unless you specifically state that you wish to be identified, your name, your advisor's name, and the name of your school will not be posted with your story.
