Farewell From the Board
of Editors
When
important professors left their posts, when the school made dramatic
changes to the school's curriculum and programs, when rumors swirled around a
move to Allston, when the International Forum was moved off campus,
when the Writing Center was dissolved, when Rod Paige came to campus
to speak, The Appian was there.
Through
our extensive profiles, we told our readers about amazing HGSE
students and fascinating campus visitors, and through our editorial
page, many got the chance to voice their opinions and share their
insights. In the fall semester of 2004, we sponsored a successful
forum with three education journalists from the New York Times,
the Boston Globe and the Harvard Gazette.
For
all of this and more, I'm very proud of the Appian team, including
Laura Ax, Joanna Durham, Cenk Eyugoblu, Belinda Gomez, Eric Kinne,
Julia Laughlin, Michael Lisman, David Meadow, Justin Olmanson,
Lolita Paiewonsky and Jamie Schultz in 2003-2004, and the
extremely dedicated Michael Lisman and Lolita Paiewonsky in 2004-05.
The future of The Appian now rests in the hands of the next crop
of students who find value in keeping the community informed and
connected about events and issues important to us all. We hope
you will accept the torch we pass.
