Dr. Patrick Ndase, a native of Uganda, has an MD from Makerere University in Uganda. He began his health career as an educator/advocate for adolescent friendly reproductive health services having been motivated to embrace comprehensive approaches to health and healthcare by the devastation the HIV/AIDS epidemic was having on his country at the time. He worked on various projects under the UNFPA advocacy and reproductive health subprograms. Before he moved to the Botswana-Harvard Partnership in Gaborone-Botswana, Dr Ndase worked at Mildmay Center, the pioneer HIV specialist care and training center in Uganda. In Botswana, he was instrumental in the implementation of the Mashi PMTCT clinical trial and later became Site director/Co-investigator of the "Netefatso" Study – a study focusing on the prevention of HIV transmission among HIV sero-discordant couples. During this time, he pioneered the integration of couples HIV counseling & Testing into the Botswana National HIV prevention VCT strategy. Ndase is now studying at Harvard for his Masters of Public Health. |
